Advanced Chemistry in Creation Cover

Advanced Chemistry in Creation

This course includes stoichiometry (with limiting reactants), thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, orbital hybridization, molecular orbitals, molecular geometry, chemical equilibrium, and nuclear chemistry. Also included is an introduction to organic chemistry with a focus on the major functional groups, organic nomenclature, and polymer chemistry. Twenty-eight hours of laboratory exercises include the rate of an iodine clock reaction, distillation, chromatography, the common ion effect, measuring pH changes in a buffer, the electrolysis of copper sulfate, polymerization experiments, and hydrolysis of sucrose. Before taking this course, students should have completed Algebra 1 and 2 and Chemistry 1. This course prepares students to take the AP (Advanced Placement) or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) chemistry exam.

This course comes in 2 volumes: a hardcover student text that contains all student materials, study questions, photos, and illustrations and a softcover volume that contains answers to module study guides, tests, and test solutions.
